OUR PROJECTS

1. STANDARDIZATION OF TURKISH COFFEE:

This project consists of defining criteria such as the type of coffee which is used to brew Turkish coffee, roasting technique, degrees of roasting and grinding, packaging types, the amounts of coffee and sugar for a cup, the features of water, coffeepot, cup and heat sources used to brew coffee, the amounts of foam, thickness, color, heat interval, liquid, taste and coffee ground. By defining these criteria, the project aims to develop, generalize and implement product, method, service standard and literature about Turkish coffee.

2. ACCREDITATION OF TURKISH COFFEE:

The aim in this project is to make trademark registration of Turkish coffee by defining its national and international standards, to establish required laboratory and control mechanisms. It also consists of gaining the features of an accreditation institute to protect and develop the value of our traditional and moral inheritance of Turkish coffee by taking Turkish coffee serving places under control through accreditation mechanism.

3. TURKISH COFFEE SYMPOSIUM:

The aim of this project is to realize a symposium about the subjects related with coffee in our history and culture under the light of our cultural mission which is developed by the collaboration of different universities and by The Dean of Art and Sciences Department of Marmara University, who is accepted as doyenne of the world of Turcology, Prof.Dr. Emine Gürsoy Naskali. In the symposium, people, organizations and institutions which are related to coffee along with the experts of the topic will be brought together in the direction of our cultural mission and Turkish coffee and culture will be worked upon with all the details from past to today. Findings will be recorded and required knowledge flow will be provided under the light of different branches of science such as language, history, art history, social history, economic history, anthropology, sociology, literature, music and ethnography.

4. TURKISH COFFEE CULTURE AND RESEARCH ASSOCIATION BOOK PROJECT:

It is a project to make research about coffee in our culture, to record findings and to publish them as a book by the Prof. Dr. Emine Gürsoy Naskali. The main subjects of research are the history of meeting our culture with coffee, first and proceeding records about coffee, the route of coffee trade, amounts, prices, coffee traders, the method of coffee transportation, packages, sales points of coffee, design and production of equipments which are related to coffee consumption, collections, characteristics of coffee drinking places, activities in these places, traditions about coffee, different coffee brewing and drinking types, coffee manner, fortune telling, lyrics, visual records, the etymology of words which are related to coffee, historical memories about coffee, the reflections of coffee drinking tradition in literature, discussion literature. By taking these subjects into consideration the project’s main purpose is creation of works which will be the source for next generations.

5. VIRTUAL MUSEUM PROJECT:

The aim is to establish the most comprehensive museum about Turkish coffee by the collection and exhibition of culturally and historically valuable objects. It will be informative, enriched by exhibitions and address both local and foreign users by its visual aspect. It will exhibit visual presentation of all the details about the ethnic and geographical development of Turkish coffee starting with the world history, its entrance to Ottoman Empire, the place of Turkish coffee in gastronomy and our traditions, brewing techniques, its service and presentation to its users. It is a project of a modern virtual museum which is so different from a static museum and which will bring people interested in coffee together. It will be educative and dynamic with different sections whose content will be updated frequently, such as competitions, exhibition rooms, galleries, library, archive, and café.

6. MUSEUM COFFEE HOUSES:

The aim of this project is to present our cultural and moral inheritance of Turkish coffee in the direction of high quality standards and in the best possible way within the modern coffee houses which are established in different museums within the country. By this way it is aimed to increase world’s awareness of Turkish coffee, value of its brand name and consumption amount with the collaboration of Bilintur.

7. TURKISH COFFEE DOCUMENTARY:

The aim of this project is to prepare a documentary which shows the adventure of coffee from past to today, its history and its quality which makes millions of people to drink more cups each day within the frame of Turkish coffee’s story. It will consist of sections like the first seeds, expansion to the world, contribution of Turkish people, Ottoman Empire and coffee culture, legends, art of fortune telling, Turkish coffee from past to recent times. This documentary will also have educational characteristics for future generations.

8. iPHONE APPLICATION:

iphone users who live in Istanbul could find the closest places to them, which serve Turkish coffee and chosen by our association, at that moment by using “location” application in their phone. They could view these places on the map by Google maps, they could comment about these places and they could share the pictures of these places on Facebook and Twitter.
